If multiple leads/users have the same email address, and all these are enrolled in a Series/Email campaign, will the email be sent to that email address multiple times?

eg. separate leads/contacts below would receive the email 3 times?

Lead A - joe@bloggs.com

Lead B - joe@bloggs.com

User C - joe@bloggs.com

Hi @simon h11 , Series matching rules per user/lead once, so yes, they should receive 3 e-mails.

Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to avoid this from happening?

@simon h11 , In this case, you should find duplicates and merge them.

I see - so it's entirely manual?

What happens if a person clicks unsubcribe because they've received 3 emails? Is the unsubscribe applied to all leads/users with that email address?

@simon h11 , I'm not fully sure but 90% unsubscribing works per user.

In your case, the user must unsubscribe from e-mails 3 times.

I've just tested and that is the case. Unsubscribe is only applied to the record the email was sent to.

So not only do we have a duplicates problem, we've got a compliance problem. I'm a bit surprised to say the least that out of the box Intercom has no way of managing dupes, and doesn't manage unsubscribes in a way that is compliant with our data protection regulations.
